Victorian Men's Gold-Filled Watch Fob

Every stylish Victorian/Belle Epooque gentleman worth his salt carried his pocket watch on a fob. (Remember O. Henry's "Gift of the Magi?") While there are stunning examples in museums of fobs made of gold/platinum, set with precious stones, the majority of fobs made/worn at the time were of goldplated silver, brass, or copper. These were worn by stylish chaps who wanted to be fashionable and look important, the way a spiffy set of cufflinks was de riguer for the fashionable man in the 1950s.

This fob would have been worn by an upwardly mobile, professional working man, around his belt loop with the watch hanging into his pocket. Pocket watches were worn until about the 20's, when the first automatic wristwatch was designed and heavily marketed.

This beauty is a throwback to a simpler time.

On one end is a clip and chain for the watch. At the other end is a hanging signet stamp, for those who used an official seal on documents (or for those who wanted to appear as if they were important enough to need one.) (This seal is blank. Have your own logo made and start signing everything with your official seal. Let everyone think you're royalty!)

This can also be used for keys or anything else you want to keep handy and safe in your pocket
