Truth in Politics

I present this evidence, these links, these readings because I believe, with all my heart, that this country is heading into dangerous times. I believe that we, as a people, must stop being led by a nefarious (albeit brilliant) propadanga machine -- comparable in its methods and incidiousness to that of the Third Reich (evidence below.) I urge you to read outside the so-called "liberal" mainstream press before deciding upon your candidate. Do not be mislead by superficial appearances (which is as foolish and potentially catastrophic as choosing a spouse on looks alone.)

We (and the entire world) are going to have to live with the consequences of our choice in November, so please, take your vote very, very, VERY seriously!!!

These links contain well-documented information, well-written essays and well-argued opinions which you are not likely to see in your local newspaper or on TV. It is not "paranoid" to remind you that those media outlets are owned by big business and beholden to those who have their own political agendas. If you want truth, you often have to look past the pabulum they are feeding us, and dig a little.

Don't be a sheep or a lemming! Get informed. If you find any of these private investigative journalism websites to be useful and/or informative, please support them in whatever way you can. Remember, many of these writers are independent, freelance journalists doing research on their own time, at their own expense without the benefit of salary or advertising. They do this because they believe, as I do, that it is our PATRIOTIC DUTY to investigate our leaders and keep asking questions and scratching away at the veneer until we get some truth.

The GOP are master manipulators of both the media and human emotion. If you don't stop and take a close look, you might get caught up in their flag-waving rhetoric, which masks their true agenda. I believe that a sensible person, once armed with the FACTS, cannot possibly vote for George W. Bush. I hope after reading some of this page, you will agree.

Thank you.

I'm not saying Bush is just like Hitler, but there ARE some very disturbing similarities between the policies and propaganda of the current administration and that of Germany in the 1930's. For some historical perspective:

"It is easy to lead people into war, regardless of whether they reside within a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. All that is required is for their government to tell them they are being attacked, and [then] denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to greater danger."

The Killian Memo about Bush's National Guard Service? A Lie or a Clever Media Plant? by Adrienne E. Gusoff

Rove, who has a long history planting false stories to create political waves designed to benefit his candidate, was also apparently the unnamed source for a false leak about a photo of W dancing naked on top of a bar. Rove planted the false story in the Drudge report to raise the media's scandal bar. When the photo never surfaced the press ignored W's alcoholic past for the rest of the 2000 campaign --Toby Rogers (see full story)

On January 19, 2002--just nineteen weeks after the 9/11 attacks--Bush's top political adviser, Karl Rove, told a high-level gathering at the Republican National Committee to "go to the country" and tell the American people they can "trust the Republican Party to do a better job of...protecting America." Soon afterward, Bush authorized the Republican Party to sell photographs of himself aboard Air Force One, looking concerned and talking on a red telephone to the Vice President on 9/11.

The REAL Terrorists by Adrienne E. Gusoff

Jingoism and fearmongering are cheap ways to avoid hard issues - The Nation

This faith that the American people have in President Bush over Senator Kerry is puzzling, because Kerry has the credentials, the experience, and the courage to fight an effective war on terror. The only quality Bush has shown thus far is bravado. The GOP wants to turn our Vietnam heroes into losers. And that's why one conservative Republican won't be voting for Bush this November. -- Eric Siddall (read full article)

In religion and politics people's beliefs and convictions are in almost every case gotten at second-hand, and without examination, from authorities who have not themselves examined the questions at issue but have taken them at second-hand from other non-examiners, whose opinions about them were not worth a brass farthing.

Here is comedian David Steinberg's old routine about taking an exam when you are so clueless, you don't even understand the question:

(As if reading the test question:) "Refute the allegation that the literature of the middle ages was moribund."
(As if writing:) "Some believe that the literature of the middle ages was moribund. Some believe that the literature of the middle ages was not moribund. I believe that the literature of the middle ages was not moribund. In order to refute the allegation that the literature of the middle ages was moribund, one would need to have a detailed knowledge of the literature and history of that period."
(Whispering to self) "which I wish to God I had."

Here is Bush's speech, in which he is asked about "sovereignty." (I think Steinberg might have a good case for plagiarism here!)

Quotes by George W. Bush
(THIS
is the leader of the free world??!)

Our nation must come together to unite.

It's clearly a budget. It's got a lot of numbers in it.

Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning?

Washington is a town where there's all kinds of allegations. You've heard much of the allegations. And if people have got solid information, please come forward with it. And that would be people inside the information who are the so-called anonymous sources, or people outside the information — outside the administration.

I am mindful not only of preserving executive powers for myself, but for predecessors as well.

I glance at the headlines just to kind of get a flavor for what's moving. I rarely read the stories, and get briefed by people who are probably read the news themselves.

The law I sign today directs new funds and new focus to the task of collecting vital intelligence on terrorist threats and on
weapons of mass production.

You teach a child to read, and he or her will be able to pass a literacy test.

I mean, there needs to be a wholesale effort against racial profiling, which is illiterate children.

In my sentences I go where no man has gone before.

One of the common denominators I have found is that expectations rise above that which is expected.

They want the federal government controlling Social Security like it's some kind of federal program.

I appreciate that question because I, in the state of Texas, had heard a lot of discussion about a faith-based initiative eroding the important bridge between church and state.

He can't have it both ways. He can't take the high horse and then claim the low road.

For every fatal shooting, there were roughly three non-fatal shootings. And, folks, this is unacceptable in America. It's just unacceptable. And we're going to do something about it.
(see what)

One of the great things about books is sometimes there are some fantastic pictures.

This administration is doing everything we can to end the stalemate in an efficient way. We're making the right decisions to bring the solution to an end.

There's only one person who hugs the mothers and the widows, the wives and the kids upon the death of their loved one. Others hug but having committed the troops, I've got an additional responsibility to hug and that's me and I know what it's like.

People that are really very weird can get into sensitive positions and have a tremendous impact on history.
