Feeling Grateful
Be thankful for the small things in life.
Here's a short list. I'm sure you can think of more.
I have enough to eat. In fact, I have a choice of what I want to eat.
(As many as 828 million people — about 10% of the
global population — regularly go to bed hungry.)
I am healthy (or at least not a total wreck. Or if a total wreck, well,
there are lots of people in way worse shape.
And if not worse shape, well, at least I'm not dead...yet.)
I have loving family and/or good friends in my life.
I am grateful they can depend on me.
I do not fear for my life every day (billions of people do.)
My home has clean, safe water.
(26% of the world doesn't have access to safe drinking water
and 46% lack access to basic sanitation.)
I have indoor plumbing.
(I don't have to do my business in an outhouse
in the wee-wee hours, in the dead of winter
or shlep heavy jugs of water on my head for miles.)
I have electricity in my home
(775 millions people do not. Not even electric lighting.)
I poop regularly.
(Or at least I'm not in danger exiting like Elvis.)
